Steak dinner at Harris. Caught up with the guys and took a crappy, low-light iPhone pan. I almost always order the filet, but I went New York last night, and the “marbling” crushed me.

Sunday morning read-a-thon with a blanket and cat to keep my legs warm.

My book club took down The Imperial Cruise, the story of how racist America was in the early 1900’s. What a bummer. I’ve got 50 pages left and I want to go apologize to strangers.

The end of a 45 minute long line at Mama’s in North Beach yesterday.

Their coffee cake made me want to be a better man.

Won a bet 2 years ago being paid off tonight as a free steak dinner at Delmonico! It’s been a good week for food bets.

Lisa sipping coffee at Ella’s in SF, our favorite breakfast spot. We love eating at the counter at crowded restaurants.

She wants me to post something other than pics of us eating, and she’s probably right that I’ve slipped into a blogging rut. I’ll see if I can do better :-)

Grammie-in-law’s 95th b-day!

Grammie-in-law’s 95th b-day!

Put together this pan from a few shots around the green on Sunday.
The reason I like this is that this is my favorite part of “Guys’ Golf Trip” every year: the last group coming into the 18th green, particularly on the final day. Here’s the 3 reasons why…
You can see the guys joking around on the left, but you can also see that they’re paying attention. The scores of the final group tend to matter for the elaborate team competition we’ve constructed for the weekend, so there’s pressure on the last few putts. You don’t get many chances as an adult to do anything athletic with pressure on you, so it’s kind of fun to see if you’ve “still got it.”
Golf is played in foursomes, so this is one of the few moments of the weekend when we’re all together (14 of us) while we play.
Finishing a round of golf is very satisfying, so the 10 folks looking on are usually in great moods (unless they had disastrous rounds).
When GGT started, our group was mostly single, and now we’re mostly married and with kids or kids on the way. I’m psyched that the tradition has survived. This was #6. The funny thing is that we started talking about it years before it got off the ground, but only finally got organized in ‘04. I think it’s here to stay now though.

Watched UFC with friends tonight. Every time I see MMA, I wonder why I don’t watch more of it. What a great sport! Boxing will be culturally irrelevant in 20 years.

Classic date night at Mas Sake: Great sushi, music so loud we couldn’t hear each other at all.

1st attempt at evening activities since my surgery.

Lisa caught this pan at Taylor’s in just a tender enough way that I look like a Picasso painting.

For whatever reason, SAS training is on the 34th floor of a downtown SF building with a crazy view. Not complaining.
