What a buffoon. The disrespect he’s referring to is that we “slapped” him with the franchise tag, which guarantees that he’ll be paid the average of the top 5 players at his position for the next season.
He complained, partly because he thought he was worth even more than that, and partly because he wanted a longer contract than just one season. The problem is, NFL contracts aren’t guaranteed, so why is a longer deal so much more valuable? The other problem was, Asante sucked, and definitely wasn’t worth what we were paying him, let alone a penny more.
